Val di Fassa and Marmolada: trekking to discover the Pale Mountains, a legend of the Dolomites

5 to 11 July 2024


Discovering the Trentino Dolomites: 5 days of trekking suitable for everyone, with overnight stays in hotels B&B and mountain hut.  Transfers in minivan.
Accompanied by a mountain professional with a deep knowledge of the region’s territory, culture and traditions.

A briefing (video call)  will be organised in order to get to know the group’s needs, share logistical aspects and inform about the daily activities.

Programme (5- 11 July 2024)

Day 1

Free arrival in Pozza di Fassa (Trento, Italy) and overnight stay in hotel. Free dinner.
Possible arrangement of transfer from arrival airport (Milan) to Pozza di Fassa.

(approximately 360 km, 4 hours, from Milan Malpensa)

Day  2

Meeting at 9 a.m. at the hotel.
Presentation briefing, equipment check.
Excursion to Catinaccio with cable car ascent: from Ciampedie to Passo Principe and return on hike to Pozza di Fassa (10Km – 625 m altitude difference )
Overnight stay in a hotel in Pozza di Fassa

Day  3

After breakfast, transfer by minivan (approx. 6 km), from hotel to Malga Crocifisso starting point of today’s trek
We begin the discovery of the panoramic views of the Fassa Dolomites, with a stop in a typical Dolomite mountain hut. (10 Km 920m difference in altitude)
Dinner and overnight stay at “Rifugio Vallaccia” (2,275 m. altitude)

The Refuge is located in the alpine meadows below the Vallaccia and Cima 11 peaks in a panoramic position over the entire Marmolada Group.

Day 4

After breakfast we start hiking through  Marmolada massif,  along the routes of the First Great War
Crossing from Valle Monzoni to S.Pellegrino Pass. (10 Km, 600 m altitude difference )
Overnight stay in a hotel at Passo S.Pellegrino

Day 5

After breakfast we will hike into the heart of the Marmolada Massif, the Queen of the Dolomites. We will cross the mountains up to the Contrin valley.
Overnight stay in the Contrin refuge , 2016 m. (14Km – 950m difference in altitude)

It is one of the most famous refuges in the Fassa Dolomites, with a 360° panorama of the Marmolada and Sassolungo Groups, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage, so much so that it has been mentioned in numerous international magazines and publications.

Day 6

Excursion with arrival in Canazei (TN), end of trek (500 m down hill, 6 Km).  Free time for resting, visiting the village and shopping.
Return by minivan to Pozza di Fassa (10 km), overnight stay in hotel.

Day 7

Breakfast and departure.

Possible arrangement of transfer to departure airport (Milan)

Engagement

Training is required for hikes of 4 to 5  hours per day.

Required equipment

Comfortable hiking clothing, hiking boots. Windbreaker, cap, gloves .

Trekking backpack (30 liters)

IMPORTANT NOTE

Before departure, the guide contacts all participants for useful information about the trip and the necessary equipment.
The programme may be subject to change at the sole discretion of the guide depending on weather conditions and the technical level of the participants.
In the event of changes to the programme, for reasons beyond the guide’s control, any additional costs will be divided between the participants.

Health insurance  (not included in the fee) is compulsory for participants not resident in Italy.

QUOTATION ON REQUEST

PAYMENT POLICY, BOOKINGS AND PENALTIES:

Payments: 30% deposit on booking, balance 30 days before departure date.

Closing date for bookings 15 May 2024

Cancellation fee: 30 % of the participation fee (100 % for cancellations less than 20 days before departure date)

Accompaniment a by a professional mid-mountain guide. English speaking.
