The sea is a world to explore, and the Protected Marine Area (MPA) of Monte di Portofino a world within the world: established in 1999, it is now one of Italy’s most famous and best-managed locations.
Diving into the Portofino MPA for the first time is an experience that will make your trip to Liguria truly unforgettable. A whole, intense and relaxing day at sea, departing from the Darsena di Genova Porto Antico (Museo del Mare)
Sea baptism (minimum age 10 years) is an activity for non-divers who wish to try breathing underwater under the direct supervision of an instructor. Snorkelling is open to all, with an accompanying guide for the group. The price includes all necessary equipment, the scuba instructor or snorkelling guide, the day on the boat with lunch on board (water, beer, coffee included. Wine not included, which can be purchased on board. There are no personalised menus for food allergies/intolerances). On the way to the AMP it is not uncommon to come across groups of dolphins.
Duration of excursion approx. 9 hours.
Boat “Maso”, 16 m, equipped with two bathrooms with shower, living and relaxation area. Lift to allow divers who wish to do so to board without any effort.
We offer the activity from Monday to Friday, to avoid crowding and fully enjoy the experience.
Bookable for private groups (max. 12 people, possibility of combining “snorkelers” and “baptisms”), with minimum notice to offer the best chance of assessing weather conditions.
It is also possible to request the accompaniment of a specialised marine naturalist to explore scientific and research aspects.
Departure and arrival: Darsena Porto Antico in Genoa. Approx. 10 minutes’ walk from Genoa Principe railway station. Meeting point 8 a.m., departure (mandatory) 9 a.m., return approx. 6 p.m. Reserved car park available, via Rubattino, 5 minutes’ walk from the Diving centre.
Programme: day excursion (Monday to Friday)
Meeting in Genoa, Darsena Porto Antico (Diving Arco 89 headquarters) at 8 a.m. Briefing on the day at sea, preparation and… embarking. Approximately 12 miles of navigation (1.5 h) to reach the dive or snorkelling site.

The minimum cost for organising the trip is 900 €.
It is possible to combine the two activities together i.e. have both snorkellers and baptisms on board.
A sufficient number of participants (Snorkelers and Scuba) is required to reach the minimum cost to organise the excursion (900 €)
Marine naturalist accompaniment option (full day): 150 € per group
BOOKING POLICY AND PENALTIES:
Bookable on free days, with closing of bookings and confirmation 6 days before the requested date.
In the event of cancellation due to adverse weather conditions or force majeure, the entire participation fee will be refunded.
Penalty: 100% of the participation fee for cancellations from 4 days to departure.
Equipment, boat passage and Diving instructor (for sea baptism) and Guide (for snorkelling). Lunch on board: starter with focaccia, a first course, water, beer, coffee.
Optional (per group): accompaniment by a specialised marine naturalist.
